So I was sick on Thursday so I missed college but now that I have managed to catch up i have learnt how to make mountains in Houdini. So I learnt how to do this through using heightfields. The have so many tools to use to create different terrains of land. So this session of college I missed we learnt how to make mountains. So you start off with a geomatry node and put a heightfield node in it. You apply noise to this node to change the terrain so you can make it into what you want. In this case we are trying to make a mountain. You would add a remap tool to the geometry to give its peaks on the mountains and this would elevate the mountains we are making. Next you would apple a layer node to merge it all together so it could basically be one whole shape then using a maskby node you can make the geometry more normal and realistic looking. Then using a blur tool I was able to smooth down areas of my terrains to make it look smoother and natural looking instead of some points sticking out. Then, using the distort and erosion node I was able to see what would happen to my mountains if weathering and erosion would happen to it over the years.
